Social rejection is hard!
But did you know the people you spend the most time with could be the ones holding you back from change??
Whether you know it or not, we subconsciously sabotage our own results to avoid being rejected! We want to belong, it’s safe!
But, it’s important to realise, we are the sum of the people we spend the most time with. If these people in your “inner circle” don’t see the value or need to improve their health and wellbeing- they will talk down about it, brush it off, or disregard it.
How hard does that then make it for us to achieve our goals?
So we modify our behaviour to fit back in. We tell ourselves that we “aren’t that bad” or that it’s “too hard”, because the risk of rejection is much scarier than the effort required to achieve our goals.
Now, I’m not saying your friends and family in your inner circle are bad people, but if your goals really are important to you, it’s time to hang around the people who are going to help get you there!
When you surround yourself with the right people, they will help to push you to new heights, keep you on track and celebrate your achievements with you!
And this doesn’t mean that you need to cut those people out of your life, it just means that you should start to examine how much time you spend around them, and when you do, how do they make you feel?
